Following our recent introduction of the mydlink home range we have now added the other main Wi-Fi home automation system - Belkin Wemo
Belkin's Wemo range is a simple, easy to use home automation technology using your home's Wi-Fi network rather than dedicated networks such as Z-Wave or LightwaveRF. By using Wemo, people can quickly and easily add automation of home appliances, and you can even create advanced control scenarios using the IFTTT cloud service.

The current Wemo product range includes Wi-Fi enabled LEDs, wall plugs and cameras.
Wemo LED Starter Pack
The Wemo LED Lighting Starter kit includes two Wemo LEDs and a Wemo hub. The kit lets you access and control your Wemo Smart LED Bulbs from anywhere, using your existing home Wi-Fi network and mobile internet. Dim lights, turn them on or off, or create a custom schedule that works for your family. You can also set your lights to turn on automatically at sunset, dim them to watch a movie, or turn them off after you leave home, all from your smart device. The Wemo LED bulbs are available in Bayonet and Screw fitting types.
Wemo LEDs
Offer the same wireless control as the starter pack, but allows you to buy the Wemo LEDs separately (without the Wemo Hub). Available in Bayonet and Screw fitting types.
Wemo Energy Use Wall Plug
Turn your electronics On or Off from anywhere in the world and measure the power they're using. This simple wall plug connects directly to your home's Wi-Fi network (no hub required). You then have quick and easy control of the connected appliance or lamp.
Wemo Switch
Turn your electronics On or Off from anywhere in the world. This simple wall plug connects directly to your home's Wi-Fi network (no hub required). You then have quick and easy control of the connected appliance or lamp.
Wemo Maker
Cool little device has low-voltage relay contacts allowing you to wirelessly control any low-voltage device. This brings Wi-Fi control to any non-mains-powered equipment or triggers (such as alarms).
Night Vision IP Cameras
The two Belkin cameras work directly with your home's Wi-Fi network. Easy to install - you can watch what's going on at home, day or night, no matter where you are. Available in two versions - HD Camera with Night Vision and Standard Camera with Night Vision
Extended Capabilities - Wemo + IFTTT
What sets Wemo apart from other Wi-Fi-based systems is its integration with IFTTT.
If you've not come across IFTTT, it's well worth a look. IFTTT stands for IF This Then That - it's a cloud based system that can use input from various 'channels' and make something else happen based on the input.
So for Wemo you can make the lights turn on when you are within 100m of home (Geolocation), you can have it turn fans on when the weather channel says it's going to be hot and humid. You could even have the lights flash when you receive a Tweet (not that you'd want to)! The capabilities are almost endless and make Wemo + IFTTT a powerful, yet simple home automation system.
Availability
The full Belkin Wemo range is available from stock now. We've not had chance to play with the products other than plugging them in, but we do plan to release a review in the next week or so.
