Note: To simplify these diagrams, we have not shown the earth cables - but all circuits MUST have the earth cable correctly installed.
We've shown wires in red to indicate that they are new wires, but it doesn't really matter what colour you use.
To protect the module a suitable rated overcurrent protection fuse must be installed on the Live input.
We work hard to keep these wiring guides accurate and up to date and would appreciate any feedback, corrections or suggestions that you may have. Please contact us using our help page or by simply emailing feedback@vesternet.com
This guide provides ways to use a Fibaro Dimmer 2 module(s) in a Standard 2-Way Lighting Circuit 2-Gang.
Standard 2-Way Lighting Circuit 2-Gang
Figure 1: Standard 2-Way Lighting Circuit 2-Gang
This is similar to the Standard 2-way Lighting Circuit but with 2 circuits being controlled by a 2-Gang switch. 2-core cables (brown and blue) carries the Live and Switched Live to the wall switch and up to each light fitting. An extra 3-core cable (brown, black and grey) connects each wall switch to one of the gangs on the 2-gang wall switch enabling each of them to independently turn the light On or Off - Switch A and Switch B Gang-1 controls one Load, Switch C and Switch B Gang-2 controls the other Load.
Toggle Switches - Install on Switch A
To retain your existing standard Toggle switches, we can simple install the Fibaro Dimmer 2 modules as shown in Figure 2.
Figure 2: Standard 2-Way Lighting Circuit 2-Gang using the Fibaro Dimmer 2 with Toggle switches (Switch A).
In this case we keep the standard Toggle switches connecting each circuit "L1" to the Dimmer 2's S1 input and "L2" to the Dimmer 2's Sx output. Live is wired to L terminal and each load is connected to the Dimmer 2's Output.
This gives simple On / Off control of the light from the switches but you will still be able to control the dimming level over Z-Wave if required.
Fibaro Dimmer 2 Parameter Setting:
The following parameters need to be set:
- 20 - 1 - enables the dimmer to work with a toggle switch (default is 0 for a momentary switch)
- 26 - 0 - keep as default
Momentary Switches - Install on Switch A
For full On / Off and dimming control we can replace the Toggle wall switches with similar styled Momentary switches.
Figure 3: Standard 2-Way Lighting Circuit 2-Gang using the Fibaro Dimmer 2 with Momentary switches (Switch A).
Replace the existing Toggle switches with Momentary switches, connecting each circuit "L1" to the Dimmer 2's S1 input and "COM" to the Dimmer 2's Sx output. Live is wired to L terminal and each load is connected to the Dimmer 2's Output. Any unused wires from the original wirings should be safely terminated.
Fibaro Dimmer 2 Parameter Setting:
The following parameters need to be set:
- 20 - 0 - keep as default to work with a momentary switch
- 26 - 0 - keep as default
Toggle Switches - Install at Switch A and Switch B (or Switch C)
Figure 4: Standard 2-Way Lighting Circuit 2-Gang using the Fibaro Dimmer 2 with Toggle switches (Switch A and Switch B).
In this case we keep the standard Toggle switches connecting each circuit "L1" to the Dimmer 2's S1 input and "L2" to the Dimmer 2's Sx output. Live is wired to L terminal and each load is connected to the Dimmer 2's Output - one of the Loads is re-wired to Switch B (or Switch C).
This gives simple On / Off control of the light from the switches but you will still be able to control the dimming level over Z-Wave if required.

Figure 6: Standard 2-Way Lighting Circuit 2-Gang using the Fibaro Dimmer 2 with Toggle switches (Switch B and Switch C).
In this case we keep the standard Toggle switches but installing the Dimmer 2's modules on Switch B and C positions. Connect each circuit "L1" to the Dimmer 2's S1 input and "L2" to the Dimmer 2's Sx output. Live is wired to L terminal and Switched Live is re-wired to Switch B and C positions, connected to the Dimmer 2's Output.
This gives simple On / Off control of the light from the switches but you will still be able to control the dimming level over Z-Wave if required.
