Contact motion sensors for doors and windows work by using a magnet and a sensor to detect the opening or closing of a door or window. When the door or window is closed, the magnet aligns with the sensor, completing a circuit. If the door or window is opened, the magnet moves away from the sensor, breaking the circuit and triggering an alert or alarm.
