Can I connect this to a water heater or an air conditioner unit which is rated as 16A?

The module maximum rating is 16A, if your appliance peaks at 16A then it would probably be OK, however if your appliance operates at a continuous 16A then I wouldn't recommend using this module as it would then be operating at its maximum rating continuously.
