What does the physical switch attached to this device do? does it activate the dimming or does it just enable/disable the whole device? Forgive the naiivety of the question, I'm still a noob at this

Hi Marc, The wall switch would give you "local control" over the load, just like you'd do before installing the module. So you can for example turn the load On via Z-wave and turn Off via the local switch - or vice versa
