Manual says "Maximum length of wires: 3 meters". Is that really the case and does it apply for both input and output wiring? Thinking of installing these on the DIN rail with Eutonomy housings, but 3-meter cable restriction would make this impossible.

The recommendation applies to the input wires but is really just a guideline, mainly there to protect Fibaro in case of issues. Long switch wires can sometimes induce voltage, causing the inputs to behave erratically. We suggest testing first before committing to a large installation. There are no hard and fast rules; some modules have a warning on the length, while others don't. In the same way, some modules specify they should only be installed in a 60mm deep back box!
