The product information mentions backup and restore feature. I understand this is to backup and restore the network to save on manually rebuilding the network in the situation of having to replace the stick (eg. if stick fails). Where can I find information about how to perform backup and restore?

I would honestly avoid this product. Have had problems with most of the open source HUB software used. Also, range is minimal and you need to have the controlled device in the line of sight for it to be able to communicate with it. go for Aeon Labs instead. Their support is extremely slow, it took guys a month to answer to a simple question, so developing anything with it will be painfull. Spare yourself some time and go for something else.

It will depend on the home automation software you use. I use homeseer and in the z wave plugin there are backup and restore options that worked without any problems. You can even edit the backup (simple text file) and then restore it if required.
