This will allow your Mac to communicate with a Z-Wave system. You will need some form of software to run the Z-Wave system. Most Mac users use the Indio software - http://www.vesternet.com/indigo-6-pro

It does with Indigo which is what I use, so depending on the controller software you wish to use it should be possible. My experience is limited to what I have, the utilities and diagnostics that Aeon Labs provide are PC based only but thus far I have not needed them.

Yes, you will be able to configure each individual Node with this device. You will need some software to help you do that. Indigo has a free trial or you could use openHab with the Habmin plugin. HTH
