The device should be installed into an appropriately deep wall box, making sure thereââ¬â¢s room for the device to dissipate heat and the existing cables not to be squashed or strained. I don't know what the company recommends but I've got two in sealed PVC boxes in my attic and they've been there a year with no issues.

Hi. Not normally as most will be behind switch boxes etc. If it is installed in a room that gets hot, you might need some, but not normally as they don't get hot, they are only switches.

My dimmer is fitted behind the switch plate inside a 45mm metal box.
